Lessons Learned from Abraham

Aug 23, 2026    Dan Steele

This week’s message explored Abraham’s faith in Genesis 22, where God calls him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. The sermon highlighted that genuine faith takes God at His word and responds with obedient action, even when it’s costly or confusing. Abraham’s faith wasn’t instant or perfect—it grew over decades of walking with God, marked by failures, doubts, and new steps of obedience. Ultimately, Abraham’s willingness to surrender what he loved most pointed forward to God’s own sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, showing us the depth of God’s love and provision. The challenge: lay down your “plan B” and live out a faith that trusts and obeys God, no matter the cost.
